Description
The AT8010 is built for capturing the whole room, not just a single sound source. Its omnidirectional polar pattern grabs ambient detail evenly from every direction, making it a natural fit for interviews, panel discussions, audience reaction, group vocals, string sections, cymbal overheads, acoustic guitar, and piano. The response stays smooth and extended whether the sound hits the capsule on-axis or off, so positioning is far less fussy than with a directional mic.
Inside is a fixed-charge back plate, permanently polarized condenser element with a frequency response spanning 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz. An 80 Hz, 12 dB/octave low-frequency roll-off switch is on hand for taming rumble or proximity buildup when needed. Sensitivity to popping and overload is kept low, and depending on power source you get up to 137 dB SPL handling (phantom) or 123 dB SPL (battery), with dynamic range reaching 113 dB on phantom power.
Flexible power is a core feature: run it on 11-52V phantom (2 mA typical) or drop in a single 1.5V AA battery, good for roughly 1200 hours on alkaline. Output runs through an integral 3-pin XLRM connector, and the mic weighs 165 g at 178 mm long with a 26 mm head diameter.
