Description
This is a gently used demo unit of the Aston Origin, a cardioid condenser microphone built around a 1″ gold-evaporated capsule and clean, transformer-less circuitry. It’s a workhorse mic that handles vocals and acoustic guitar with a direct, smooth character rather than an overly hyped or scooped tone.
- Signature wave-form mesh head shields the capsule from impact — it flexes under a knock and springs back with no damage — while also cutting off-axis noise.
- Built-in stainless steel mesh-knit pop filter tames plosives at the source and doubles as EMI shielding; it’s removable and washable.
- Custom end caps house an integrated XLR connection and interchangeable stand-mount thread, letting the mic attach straight to a stand thanks to its internal shock absorption.
- Each chassis is tumbled for up to 4 hours for a durable, distinctive finish, then engraved with Aston’s branding.
- Discrete/integrated hybrid PCB design for controlled amplification and clear audio output.
Specs: cardioid pressure-gradient condenser, 20Hz–20kHz frequency response (+/-3dB), 18dB equivalent noise (A-weighted), 23.7mV/Pa sensitivity at 1kHz, max SPL 127dB (0.5% THD), 76dB signal-to-noise ratio, -10dB pad switch, 80Hz low-cut filter. Requires 48V phantom power (+/-4V).
As a demo unit, this Origin has seen light handling but performs to full spec — a practical way to get Aston’s build quality and sound into your studio without paying new-unit price.
