Description
The HD 650 sits at the top of Sennheiser’s open-back hi-fi line, and it’s built for listeners who want to hear exactly what’s on the recording — nothing added, nothing smoothed over. Each pair uses driver systems matched to tight +/-1 dB tolerances, so the left and right channels track each other with unusual precision. Behind that accuracy is Sennheiser’s specially developed acoustic silk, which damps the driver output evenly across the whole frequency range instead of letting certain bands ring or dominate.
Inside, extremely lightweight aluminum voice coils keep transient response quick and clean, while the 42mm open-back drivers deliver the airy, spacious presentation open designs are known for. The elliptical earcups follow the natural shape of the ear rather than forcing a round fit, and combined with the velour earpads, that makes the HD 650 genuinely comfortable through long mixing or listening sessions.
The cable is detachable and terminates in a 1/4″ plug (1/8″ adapter included for portable-friendly gear), built from Kevlar-reinforced, oxygen-free copper for low handling noise and long-term durability. At 300 ohms, these are designed to be driven by real amplification — a dedicated headphone amp or a quality hi-fi source like an SACD, DVD-A, or CD player will get the most out of them.
