Some mics just don’t put out enough signal on their own, and by the time that thin output reaches your preamp through 50 feet of cable, transients get soft and noise creeps in. Radial’s McBoost solves this by sitting inline between your microphone and your preamp or console input, lifting the signal right where it counts.
Inside is a fully discrete Class A circuit built around a 2-transistor J-FET stage, capable of delivering up to 25dB of clean gain without coloring your source. It’s equally useful for punching up dynamic mics that need more push for better transient detail, or for bringing low-output ribbon mics up to a workable level for your gear.
Setup is straightforward: patch McBoost into the mic line, engage phantom power, and dial in one of three impedance settings to match your mic. A 3-position level switch gives you additional control if you need to fine-tune the boost.
