The BH-1 is JZ Microphones’ entry point into the Black Hole Series, a line built to give home and project studios the same transparency and clarity that pro engineers rely on for vocals and general studio work. Instead of a single fixed capsule, JZ coats the diaphragm using a patented variable sputtering process with a specially mixed alloy, then pairs it with a new stand-mount damper system for a mic that’s both compact and distinctive-looking.
Switch between Omni, Cardioid, and Figure-8 polar patterns to match the source and room, whether you’re tracking a single vocalist close-up or capturing a fuller, more open sound. The dual 27mm diaphragms and pressure-gradient design give the BH-1 a full 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency range with a sensitivity of 18 mV/Pa at 1000 Hz, so it responds accurately without needing heavy preamp gain.
Under the hood, the BH-1 handles up to 134.5 dB SPL before hitting 0.5% THD, giving you real headroom for loud sources, while a 127 dB dynamic range in the preamp keeps quiet passages clean. It runs on standard +48V phantom power and connects via a gold-plated 3-pin male XLR.
