The EVOLVE 50 is Electro-Voice’s answer to lugging bulky speaker cabinets: a three-piece column system that sets up in minutes and sounds like it took a lot longer to dial in. A 15 mm plywood, ported subwoofer enclosure houses a 12″ driver reaching down to 37 Hz, while a magnetic pole connection and gravity-held column array mean no cables to fumble with during setup – signal routes internally once the pieces are stacked.
Up top, eight 3.5″ neodymium drivers and matching composite waveguides throw sound across 120° horizontally and 40° vertically (angled downward), so seated and standing listeners both get even coverage. Combined with the subwoofer, the system tops out at 127 dB SPL from a 1000 W Class-D amp – 500 W dedicated to lows, 500 W to highs, crossing over at 200 Hz.
Electro-Voice’s QuickSmartDSP handles the tuning grunt work with four ready-made presets (Music, Live, Speech, Club), a three-band EQ, five user-savable presets, output delay, and phantom power for condenser mics. The free QuickSmart Mobile app adds Bluetooth Low Energy control over up to six EVOLVE 50 units at once, plus wireless audio streaming for background music between sets – Bluetooth availability varies by country.
