What sets Earthworks apart is their patented near-perfect cardioid pattern. Instead of the usual off-axis coloration you get with typical mics, the SR25 stays remarkably consistent across the entire front hemisphere. At 90 degrees off-axis, it’s actually flatter than many competing mics are on-axis. In practice, that means cleaner rejection when tracking, and more headroom before feedback becomes an issue on stage. Even under that 145dB ceiling, it still pulls out fine detail that gets lost on less precise microphones.
