Description
The ART VoiceChannel packs an entire vocal chain into one rack space: a Class-A tube mic preamp, semi-parametric EQ, and a full compressor/de-esser/expander section, all with direct digital and USB output. It’s built for sessions where you need serious control over the source signal without stacking three or four separate boxes.
At the front end sits a 12AX7A tube preamp with variable input impedance and selectable plate voltage. Adjusting impedance changes how the preamp loads your mic, letting you dial in the sweet spot for condensers, ribbons, or dynamics alike. Plate voltage switching lets you choose between max headroom with low noise, or a lower voltage for more overt tube warmth and character.
Every dynamics control – compressor threshold, ratio, attack, release, de-esser frequency and depth, and expander/gate threshold – is a physical knob on the front panel, not buried in menus. The semi-parametric EQ can be routed before or after the dynamics section with one button press, and rear-panel inserts give you access to the signal both right after the preamp and just before the A/D conversion.
Outputs cover balanced analog, AES/EBU, S/PDIF, and ADAT from 44.1 kHz up to 192 kHz, plus a USB port for connecting straight to a computer.
