Description
The ART Tube MP/C combines two jobs a home studio actually needs: a tube-flavored mic/line preamp and a musical, VCA-less compressor, both packed into one compact desktop unit. Rather than stacking separate boxes, you get one chassis that handles mic pres, DI duties, and gain control for tracking vocals, guitars, bass, or synths.
On the preamp side, an active balanced solid-state input keeps noise low and rejects unwanted hum, while the 1/4″ high-impedance input avoids loading down connected gear — handy when you’re using it as a DI. A 12AX7a tube stage, running on regulated DC, adds up to 20dB of extra gain with that familiar tube character.
The compressor stage skips VCA circuitry in favor of an optical (Vactrol) design paired with its own 12AX7a tube, giving you smoother, more musical gain reduction than typical solid-state compressors. Switchable phantom power, a low-cut filter, and both fast/limit and program-dependent auto release settings round out the control set.
