Description
The AV Direct solves a problem most gender-bender cables and basic DI boxes can’t: getting consumer-level gear talking to a professional XLR mic input, cleanly and with control. Plug in a stereo iPod, laptop, DVD player, home stereo, or video source, and the AV Direct converts it to a transformer-isolated microphone-level XLR output that any mixer or interface will accept.
What sets it apart is flexibility on the input side. You get stereo RCA, 1/8-inch, and 1/4-inch TRS line-level connections, plus 1/4-inch and bare-wire pressure clip inputs rated for speaker-level signals up to 100 watts at 8 ohms. Those speaker inputs are heavily padded and transformer isolated from the XLR output, so you can safely tap an amplified source without frying anything downstream.
A variable level control lets you set the volume right where the source lives, instead of running back and forth to an AV closet or rack room. A switchable 4.8kHz high-cut filter helps tame hiss and unwanted high-end noise, and a ground lift is on hand for eliminating hum loops. With a 20Hz to 20kHz frequency response, it stays transparent across the full audible range.
