Description

This is a demo unit of the ART PDB Passive Direct Box, built to take the beating of stage and studio use while quietly doing its job: converting unbalanced instrument or line signals into balanced outputs your mixer actually wants to see. Being a demo, it may show light handling wear, but it’s fully functional and ready to work.

The PDB earns its keep in a handful of common studio and live scenarios:

Guitar/bass DI: Converts the high-impedance signal from a pickup into a low-impedance balanced signal suitable for console inputs.
Multi-keyboard rigs: Instead of running a separate direct box for every keyboard, feed them all through one amp and send that amp’s output through a single PDB to the console.
DJ mixers: Many DJ mixers only output an unbalanced -10dB signal. The PDB steps this up to a balanced line-level signal, which also makes running long cable lengths far more reliable.
Post-amp speaker signals: Tap a power amp’s speaker-level output after EQ and effects, and send that exact tone straight to the mix.

It also lets you split a source to both an instrument amp and a mixer at the same time, so you’re not choosing between monitoring and recording/reinforcement paths.
