Telefunken built the M80 for engineers and performers tired of the midrange bump that defines most “standard” dynamic vocal mics. Instead, you get a wider frequency range and higher SPL headroom, so the mic can flex between quiet studio takes and loud stage monitors without falling apart tonally.

The secret is in the capsule: a low-mass design with an ultra-thin membrane that’s tougher than it sounds. That combination lets the M80 capture the kind of vocal nuance and intimacy usually associated with condensers, while its head and capsule geometry are engineered to tame proximity effect. The payoff is cleaner low end, a present and airy top end, and none of the harsh upper-midrange honk that invites feedback on loud stages.

Behind the capsule sits a custom-wound, American-made impedance matching transformer — the Telefunken T80 — which works with the proprietary capsule to give the M80 its distinctive character. It’s a combination that built a fast, loyal following since launch.

Physically, the M80 is finished in a durable black powder coat with a chrome headgrille, built to survive the grind of touring vocal duty night after night.
