Description
The X1S takes everything that made sE’s original X1 a home-studio favorite and pushes it further. Same hand-assembled capsule, same cardioid pickup pattern, but with reworked internal electronics that widen the dynamic range and drop the self-noise floor noticeably lower than the mic it replaces.
SPL handling tops out at a hefty 160dB, so this isn’t a mic you’ll need to baby around loud sources. Point it at a cranked guitar cab, a screaming trumpet, or a kick drum beater and it keeps up without flinching.
- Cardioid polar pattern with a 1" hand-crafted capsule
- Two pad settings (-10dB and -20dB) for extended headroom on hot sources
- Switchable low-cut filters at 80Hz and 160Hz to tame rumble, footfall, and proximity bass buildup
- All-metal chassis for solid RF/EMI rejection and long-term durability
- Gold-plated XLR connector for a dependable signal path
Every capsule is built and voiced by hand in sE’s own capsule room, which is a big part of why this mic sounds more expensive than it is. The finish is clean and the housing feels like it belongs on a studio shelf rather than a beginner’s gear closet.
Comes with a standard mic clip ready to mount on your stand of choice. If you want more flexibility for shockmounting or a bundled setup, sE offers additional accessory packages alongside the standalone X1S.
Good fit for vocals, acoustic instruments, guitar cabs, brass, and drum overheads — basically anywhere you need a condenser that can handle both delicate detail and serious SPL without a second mic on standby.
