The BH 2 sits in JZ Microphones’ Black Hole Series, a line built on the idea that a vocal mic should get out of the way and let the performance come through. At its core is one large electrostatic capsule — 27mm active diaphragm diameter — housed in a compact head shell produced with JZ’s golden drops manufacturing process. Rather than a dual-diaphragm design, the BH 2 uses a single, less-center-tap diaphragm with a patterned variable sputtering coating made from a specially mixed alloy, an approach aimed at consistent, uncolored detail across the frequency range.

As a fixed cardioid, the BH 2 keeps things simple: point it, gain-stage it, record. It covers the full 20 Hz–20 kHz audio range with an output impedance of 50 ohms, and it’s happy into loads above 250 ohms as recommended. Sensitivity comes in at 21 mV/Pa at 1kHz into a 1000-ohm load, with an equivalent noise level of 6.5 dB-A and a signal-to-noise ratio of 87.5 dB-A (DIN/IEC 651). Headroom is generous too — it’ll handle up to 134.5 dB SPL before hitting 0.5% THD, backed by a 128 dB dynamic range preamp, so it stays composed on loud sources as well as quiet, detailed ones.

Connectivity is straightforward 3-pin male XLR with gold-plated contacts, standard +48V (±4V) phantom power, and a modest 1.5 mA current draw. At 203 x 51 x 28 mm, it’s compact enough to fit into tighter vocal booths and mic setups without crowding a pop filter or stand.
