Description
The PR22 UT takes the core engineering of Heil’s popular PR22 and strips away the extras, giving you the same performance for less money. Inside is a large 1 1/8″ aluminum voice coil paired with a purpose-built magnet structure, plus an internal rubber suspension system that keeps handling noise out of your signal chain “even when the mic gets passed around or moved on stage.”
Its phasing plug uses symmetrically arranged ports that capture off-axis sound out of phase, resulting in a consistent, linear cardioid pattern. This design also tames the proximity effect that can muddy up close-mic’d vocals, letting the PR22 UT stay articulate across its 50 Hz – 18 kHz range. The dynamic element handles high SPLs without flinching, so overload isn’t a concern even on loud sources, and there’s no need for phantom or DC power to get it running.
Because it’s a Utility model, the PR22 UT ships with just what you need to start using it: a stainless mesh grille, mic stand clip, and black acoustical foam windscreen, all packed in a zippered carrying case. You’re getting the identical capsule, shock-mounted diaphragm design, and tight cardioid rejection found in the standard PR22 “just without the added accessories, and at a friendlier price point.”
