Most handheld vocal mics ask you to fix problems after the fact—EQ out the mud, compress the peaks, ride the fader to dodge feedback. The Earthworks SR314 takes a different approach by getting the capture right in the first place. Its small-diaphragm cardioid condenser capsule pairs with a Class-A amplifier circuit to produce a wide, flat frequency response from 20 Hz to 30 kHz, with low distortion and noise and a fast, time-coherent impulse response. The result is a vocal signal that’s already clear and mix-ready before it hits your console.

The cardioid pickup pattern holds steady out to 90°, so off-axis coloration stays out of the signal, and rejection ramps up sharply beyond that point, maxing out at 180°. That kind of pattern control means better isolation from monitors and other stage sources, plus more usable gain before feedback becomes an issue—useful whether you’re on a festival stage, in a house of worship, or tracking live in the studio. Low end stays dependable whether a singer is right on the grille or working the mic at a distance, and the capsule can take up to 145 dB SPL without breaking a sweat.

Everything runs through a standard 3-pin XLR output on 24 to 48 VDC phantom power, so it drops right into existing mixer inputs, preamps, or interfaces without any special handling. This version wears a precision-machined stainless steel housing built to survive load-in, load-out, and everything in between.
