Description
Built around Heil’s acclaimed PR 30 capsule, the PR35 is a dynamic microphone engineered for broadcast, recording, and live sound work where a smooth, flat response across a wide frequency range actually matters. Heil mounted the element in an internal shock mount to keep handling noise and vibration out of your signal, and this bundle throws in a free 20′ XLR cable so you’re not scrambling for one at setup.
The core of the PR35’s sound comes from a large 1 1/2″ low-mass aluminum voice coil paired with a specialized magnet structure. A hum-bucking coil is wound and positioned specifically so the mic can sit close to video monitors without picking up hum or buzz — a real consideration for broadcast and streaming setups. The phasing plug uses evenly spaced ports that capture rear-facing audio out of phase, which tightens up the cardioid pattern, cuts proximity effect, and keeps articulation clean and consistent across the 40 Hz-18 kHz frequency response. The element handles high SPL without overloading and runs without phantom or DC power.
An internal low-frequency filter switch (accessible with a small screwdriver or paperclip) lets you roll off audio at 80 Hz at -6 dB/octave when pushed down, or open up the full 40 Hz-18 kHz range when left up. The cardioid pattern rejects unwanted sound most strongly at 180 degrees off-axis, directly behind the mic, with minimal off-axis coloration.
